India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians
“Although, the Indian Diaspora is a very heterogeneous group, there is a common factor which binds them- their desire to maintain their connection with their homeland and to contribute to the social and development efforts in India. We are seeking to strengthen and deepen our relationship through IDF-OI.”
-Mrs. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister of India
- India Development Foundation of Overseas Indians (IDF-OI) is a not-for-profit Trust set up by the Government of India to facilitate philanthropic contributions by overseas Indians to social and development projects in India. IDF-OI is chaired by Minister of External Affairs, Smt. Sushma Swaraj.
- IDF-OI is enabling contributions by overseas Indians to Govt. of India’s flagship programmes - Swachh Bharat Mission and Clean Ganga Mission; and projects identified by State Governments in sectors of sanitation, education, healthcare and women and child development.
- It regularly conducts Google Hangout Sessions with overseas Indian communities in specific regions, in which senior officials from IDF-OI interact live via video with Indian communities and encourage them to contribute through IDF-OI, to projects in their native village/towns.
